Mrs. Lois Gibson Rodgers, 94, of Fort Mill, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 10, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.


Born Nov. 2, 1913, in Pacolet, Mrs. Rodgers was a daughter of the late Britton Costello Gibson and Ollie Henderson Gibson.


A service to celebrate her long life was held March 13, 2008, at Fort Mill Church of God, with Bishop David Kemp officiating.


Mrs. Rodgers was lovingly known as Maw Maw to her many friends, church family, customers at the tanning salon she helped her daughter operate, and the nursing staffs at CMC-Pineville, N.C., Piedmont Medical Center and HealthSouth.


Mrs. Rodgers is survived by two daughters, Annette R. Keasler and Von R. Helms and her husband Wayland; five grandchildren, Sherri Delisse and her husband Wayne, Ginger Gardner and her husband Fred, and Robert Keasler and his wife Donna, all of Fort Mill, Marc Helms and his wife Stacy of Rock Hill and Gina Helms of Moshi, Tanzania; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Paul Rodgers; two brothers, John Gibson and Hubert Gibson, both of Lockhart; and two sisters, Mae Moon Poole and Ruby Starnes, both of Chester.

Mrs. Ola Bolin Pettus, 93, of Indian Land, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at her home.


The funeral was held March 11, 2008, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael Ritter officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.


Born in McConnells, Mrs. Pettus was a daughter of the late William David Bolin Sr. and Hattie McDaniel Bolin. She graduated from Indian Land High School. Mrs. Pettus was a homemaker and was very active in her church and community. She was a member of the Indian Land Eastern Star. Mrs. Pettus was an avid gardener and loved her many flowers, as was indicated by her beautiful yard. We are sure that her love of music that was shared with her beloved Osgood will now be continued in heaven. She was a loving wife and mother and will surely be missed by all who knew her.


Mrs. Pettus is survived by her children, Shirley P. Dallas, William O. “Billy” Pettus and his wife Janice, Patsy P. Poole, Linda P. Faulkner and her husband Jim Pettus, and John W. “Buddy” Pettus and his wife Rita, all of Indian Land; three sisters, Juanita B. Shaw, Dorothy B. Mullis and Betty B. Ervin; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Osgood Shaw Pettus; four brothers, Jim Bolin, Bill Bolin Jr., Gene Bolin and Lindy Bolin; and two sisters, Rebecca Yarborough and Joanne Rakes.

Mrs. Marie B. Sweatt, 55, of Fort Mill, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008, at her home.


A memorial service was held March 16, 2008, at the Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel with the Rev. Mickey G. Smith officiating.


A native of Long Beach, Calif., she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Bailey and Helen Johnson Bailey. She was a caregiver for the elderly and sick and was of the Baptist faith.


Mrs. Sweatt is survived by two sons, Michael Godfrey of Brunswick, Ga., and Chad Godfrey of Fort Mill; two brothers, Billy Bailey of Maggie Valley, N.C., and Larry Bailey of Rock Hill; a sister, Brenda Laney of Rock Hill; two grandchildren, Kasey Godfrey and Taylor Godfrey, both of Brunswick; and her goddaughter, Donna Atkinson and god-grandchild, Danielle Sommerset, both of Fort Mill.

Mr. Harry Malone Miller, 86, of Fort Mill died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Westminster Health and Rehab Center in Rock Hill. The funeral was held March 11, 2008, at Unity Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Dan Holloway and the Rev. Jeannie Bickett officiating. Burial was at Unity Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Jackson McKee, 83, of Charlotte, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at the Wayne Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
