LaKeisha-Hays-20131017123124LeKeshia Dawn Hays, age 22, died October 14, 2013. She was born October 15, 1990, in Columbus, IN, to Corey Mullis and Dawn Dykes Mullis. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Woodruff Burris and her cousin, Tyler Dean Dykes.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 21 at 11:00 a.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel, with Dr. Larry Robertson officiating. Her cremains are to be interred at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery – West, in Hopkinsville, KY.

Mrs. Hays is survived by her husband, Steven Hays, of Fort Bragg, NC; one son, Ayden Tyler Hays; one daughter, Lillyah Kay Hays; one brother, Corey Dean (C.J) Mullis, of Columbus, IN; two grandmothers, Judy Enochs and Darlene Mullis; one great-grandmother, Mildred Burris; two uncles, Christopher Lee Dykes and Ronald Dean Dykes; and two aunts, Catherine Dykes and Kay Dykes.

Betty Jean Cox Mullis, 73, of Jonesville died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at Elkin Healthcare.

Mrs. Mullis was born in Stokes County on Nov. 27, 1939 to Lester and Ida Wilmoth Cox. She was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Mullis; brothers, Jack Cox, Jay Cox, Ted Cox and Harold Cox; and an infant sister.

Mrs. Mullis is survived by her daughters, Tammie Shore and husband, Joey, of Hamptonville, and Robin Yarboro and husband, Jerry Junior Yarboro; sisters, Maxine Glover and husband, Carl, of Lexington, and Dovie Jenkins and husband, Bud, of Hamptonville; and three grandchildren.

The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at Maple Springs Baptist Church, conducted by Brother Curtis Ponder and the Rev. John Attaway. Burial followed the service at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.

SEDONA, Ariz. – Kalah Kathryn Mullis, 80, of Sedona, Ariz. passed away Friday Aug. 9, 2013.

Born Jan. 6, 1933, in Rochelle, Ill., she was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Dorothy Plapp, of Malta and brother Ron Plapp, of Sedona.

A loving wife and mother, she is survived by her husband Ron Mullis of Sedona and eight children: Jai Mullis, of Australia, Jon Mullis, of Idaho, Steve Mullis, of New Mexico, Roger Mullis of Arkansas., Mary McTeigue of Oregon, Robert Mullis of Georgia, Sean Mullis of Georgia and Martha Robinson of Phoenix, as well as 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Kalah grew up and lived in farming communities of Malta and Clare. Ron and Kalah relocated to Hondo, N.M., and finally to Sedona.

She was a lifelong homemaker and cooking was a specialty. Her meals were fantastic and she could feed an army from the freezer casseroles she kept made. She will be missed by family and friends.

Mrs. Edna W. Mullis

DIED: June 19, 2013
LOCATION: Chester, Georgia

Graveside services for Mrs. Edna W. Mullis, 97, of Chester, who passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in McRae Manor Nursing Home, will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the Trail Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, GA Hyw. 26 East in Bleckley County.

Mrs. Mullis was a native of Dodge County, the daughter of the late William and Julia Rowland White and was the widow of J. W. Fordham (the father of her children) in 1948; by her second husband, Idus Mullis. She was preceeded in death by a son Jack W. Fordham, sisters, Ruby W. Thompson and Josie Gilbert and a brother, J.R. Fordham. She was a former employee of Bryant Nursing Home and a homemaker. She was a member of Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include: daughters, Janice F. Johnson, Cochran and Joanne F. Cannon (Olin) of Fleming Island, FL; eight-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to her sitters Jean Rawlins, Carrie Patrick and Linda Marchant.

Visitation will follow the service in the social hall of Trail Branch Primitive Baptist Church.

Aundrea Marie Mullis of Santa Claus and Eric Robert Schaeffer of Birdseye announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Darrell and Marlene Mullis of Santa Claus. She is a 2010 graduate of Heritage Hills High School and a 2010 graduate of Southern Indiana School of Therapeutic Touch.

She works at the Wellness Center in Huntingburg.

Mr. Schaeffer is the son of Jeff and Ann Schaeffer of Birdseye. He is a 2006 graduate of Perry Central High School. He works at Mullis Custom Homes in Santa Claus.

The wedding is planned for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill.
A reception will follow at the Ferdinand Community Center.

Oscar and Marilyn Mullis of Siberia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, April 20, 2013.

Oscar and the former Marilyn Kerstiens were married April 20, 1963, at St. Meinrad Catholic Church in St. Meinrad. The attendants for the bride were Ann (Kerstiens) Jacob, Virlee (Kerstiens) Howe, Mary Ann (Mullis) Troesch and Sara (Denning) Heeke. The attendants for the groom were Le-roy Mullis, John Mullis (de-ceased), Dennis Kerstiens and Hilary Jacob.
Oscar and Marilyn are the parents of six children, Jerry (Lisa) Mullis of Birdseye, Tim (Lisa) Mullis of Bristow, Darrell (Marlene) Mul-lis of Santa Claus, Scott (Ginger) Mullis of Siberia, Kurt (Nicole) Mullis of Huntingburg and Linda (Wayne) Bueltel of Ferdinand.

They also have 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
