common concerns I hear these days is on the average citizen’s growing

Councilwoman says health not key factor

July 18, 2007 in Politics

May 8–Macon City Councilwoman Filomena Mullis said Monday she will not seek
re-election to her at-large Ward V seat.

Come December, the ward’s residents will be represented by a slate of council
members entirely different from those elected in 2003.

Councilman Cole Thomason said last week he will give up his Post 3 seat in the
ward when his term expires. And while Councilwoman Nancy White will return if
she wins re-election, she has been on the council less than a year. White won a
special election last summer.

City Council’s report card

July 18, 2007 in Politics

Apr. 25–If members of Macon’s City Council were issued a report card on their
attendance at the regular twice-monthly council sessions, most would rate a good
grade. For example, 13 members who have a record of attending 90 percent or more
of regular sessions would get a "A." Mike Cranford, who has been on council
since March of 2005 and who has had health problems, would get a B+, and
Councilwoman Filomena J. Mullis, who for the past two years has wintered in the
Philippines and who has been absent for weeks following a burn injury this year,
would get a C-.

State Sen. Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga) has proposed a splendid way to recognize Georgia's contributions to American history during a pivotal period in time.

He wants to establish a permanent Confederate History and Heritage Month. What better manner to encourage tourism related to the Civil War and to demonstrate how far Georgia has come since then?
